Abstract: Due to locality and multiscale of wavelet transform, the wavelet transform can be applied to the medical image compression and get good performance. However, since it generated by single scaling function, it cannot be collected in orthogonality and symmetry at the same time. So this paper proposes the multi-wavelet theory on medical image compressing. The experiment results show that it performs better than wavelet in the aspects of perception and PSNR.
